Meet developers from The Netherlands in the Dutch lounge at GDC 2022

Want to meet Dutch developers at GDC? Then don’t wander through the Moscone Center aimlessly trying to find them. They’re a stone’s throw (ok, one block) away from the venue in a place they call the Dutch lounge. There you will find game developers, publishers and tool- and tech providers ready to do business.

The Netherlands may be a small country, but there are many talented studios making amazing games. Like the two Sony Worldwide Studios Guerrilla Games and Nixxes. Guerrilla has recently delivered the critically acclaimed sequel Horizon Forbidden West and Nixxes left its mark by co-developing blockbuster franchises like Tomb Raider. Another tech-savvy studio Abstraction co-developed games like Halo and Mass Effect Legendary Edition and is now working hard on Funcom’s upcoming Dune game.

Dutch Indies

But the Dutch industry is also home to a vibrant community of indie game developers. Take Vlambeer for instance or Noio, creator of the Kingdom series. Also solo Developer Tomas Sala, BAFTA nominated for his debut game The Falconeer. He is part of the Dutch Lounge – as well as a speaker at the GDC- to present his new game in the Falconeer-saga: Bulwark. A new take on the builder/management/RTS genre.

Tomas Sala: “Being a solo developer means that I cannot afford to rely on casual networking or continuous business development. I am dependent on focused events such as GDC to make vital connections with likeminded people and business contacts. The further development of the world of The Falconeer and the release of Bulwark depend on it.”

Tech-savvy

Besides game developers, several tool- and tech providers will also be available for a chat. Like Steam Data Suite. They offer a platform that allows users to analyze all sorts of data that will help to successfully manage your games on the Steam store. And Dimenco, a CES Innovation Award 2022 winner and developer of the world’s most advanced 3D Display Technology.

Maarten Tobias, CEO of Dimenco: “GDC is the most important gaming conference for us to connect with gamers, creators, designers, and stakeholders from around the world. It supports us in growing the ecosystem for the innovative SR display technology even further.”
